We are blessed as a club to get to work with so many incredibly talented and hard working young ladies... all that our girls do on and off the field has always and will continue to amaze us as a coaching staff.
This past Tuesday was a special moment for all of us as a club to celebrate the achievements of two of our girls and send off Alyssa Blake who will be representing Guyana and Claire Hutton who will be representing the USA at the CONCACAF U17 Women's Championship in the Dominican Republic. This event leads directly into qualification for the U17 Women's World Cup in India this fall.
Claire is the first girl from the Capital Region to make any US soccer national team since our technical director Betsy Drambour in the mid-80s. Alyssa joins Kristina Maksuti (Albania) and Mariela Jacome (Ecuador) that have represented national teams outside of the US from the Alleycats.
Both girls in Alyssa and Claire represent many of the values and philosophy we have with the Alleycats, and were both products of our youth academy, coming over at 9 years old. Thank you to both girls and families for letting us work with you over the years and trusting us with your development.
Full schedule for the CONCACAF Championships is below as well as the link to the event page. We will be looking to organize watch parties for the girls and their games.
Congratulations to both girls on this accomplishment and opportunity, we're all incredibly proud of you and can't wait to watch you girls compete for a spot in the U17 World Cup!
