Ryan Brooks-Newton Named Alleycats Goalkeeping Director

We are proud to announce the hiring of current Hartwick Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach, Ryan Brooks-Newton as our Goalkeeping Director. 

The Selkirk, NY native brings a wealth of experience to the Alleycats after spending one season as the Director of Operations and head video analysis expert for Syracuse University in 2013.  At Cuse, Ryan had the opportunity to work with future professional players such as MLS keeper Alex Bono, before he was selected 6th overall by Toronto FC in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.  Ryan was also a two-time national champion as an assistant coach at Herkimer County Community College for its men’s program before taking on the Head Coaching role for the women’s teams in 2014. 

Most recently, Ryan was announced as the Goalkeeper Coach for the Hartwick Women’s Soccer team in Oneonta, NY. 

“We are very delighted to add Ryan to our Staff,” said Technical Director Steve Covino.  “He brings a wealth of experience to the position, and our goalkeepers and staff will enjoy working with him.  Ryan is a perfect fit for our Goalkeeper Director positions.  His enthusiasm to coach, teach, develop and mentor will help take our goalkeeping program to the next level.”

As a player, Ryan won a national championship at HCCC and also played professionally for the Syracuse Silver Knights of the MISL. 

Ryan’s main responsibilities will include interacting with all the club’s goalkeepers on a personal level and providing feedback both in games and in training.  He will also organize all Goalkeeper training sessions for the club, which will primarily be held on Friday’s.
